A Lovely Weekend

This week marks my official Spring Break! Yay!

Friday night:

A bunch of my classmates decided to jump-start our much needed break by going to a bar called Bluefoot. I had a great time, mainly because Ted was with me :) We left at a reasonable hour because we were waking up early to drive up to the mountain the next day.

Saturday morning:

We ate a delicious breakfast and made our way up to a mountain town called Idyllwild. It was a beautiful hour and a half drive up and we got to the base of the trail by late morning.

We decided to take a different route: Deer Springs almost up to Strawberry Junction and then made our way off the trail to the most beautiful spot I think I've ever seen up there. I just have to brag on Ted's sense of direction for a minute... he used a compass and a map and without a trail, we got within 100 feet of the exact same spot we stayed last time. The way we know this is Ted forgot his sunglasses on a rock and we literally walked right up to that rock, he put on his sunglasses, and we were on our way. Pretty cool if you ask me!

We decided to find some wood and try our hand at carving. While Ted was out looking for wood, he heard a creek running near by and asked me if I wanted to go check it out. When we got there, I was blown away by what I saw. This waterfall had a ton of icicles hanging from a branch while the water ran over them. It was truly a breath-taking site.

Here's Ralphie! Ted spent hours carving this little guy. The picture doesn't do him justice... he's perfectly proportioned and amazingly realistic! I love him!
